What we have here is a failure to communicate...

Sure wish people would call me back... one of the frustrating things about New York is that, while a lot of New Yorkers have cell phones and talk on them frequently, no one calls back if they receive a message! I called my advisor's office about an internship, knowing she was out for the week but hoping her assistant could help me. I left a message for the assistant to call me back, but does she? Of course not--I have to track her down the next day at the office, only to find out that she can't help me. I left an application with the bookstore yesterday, but no one has contacted me about that either. Even my roommate has expressed frustration with her inability to get in touch with her piano advising professor.

And the companies I've applied to for internships? They're worse--they won't even acknowledge that they've received my resumé! Yes Ms. Interviewer, I can count a disregard for phone messages among my particular skills. This is clearly evident in my failure to return your call about setting up an interview time, which was in response to my call about whether or not you had received my e-mailed resumé and letter applying for a position. With this skill, I should fit right in at this company.
